Our Story: Who We Are

Genex Marketing is owned and was founded by Chris Botterill, a young and ambitious online entrepreneur with over a dozen solid years of online marketing experience.

The inception of Genex Marketing really goes back to 2001 when we developed our first few custom websites for a masonry contractor, a bed and breakfast and an ecommerce site for a sports store. Within weeks of launch, each website was selling products and generating leads. During this time we were not formally known as “Genex Marketing” but rather “Tech Link Solutions”.

By 2005 we realized that we were on to something. We were in a unique situation where we had vast amounts of experience in many different areas – from graphic design to server management to offline and online marketing – whereas many of our colleagues only focused on design. We decided to refine upon these skills and services which turned out to great decision.

Fast forward to today. Our valued clients have come to know us as the “Jack of All Trades” when it comes to the Internet, but more than anything they value our experience and knowledge and our willingness and openness to share.

From our humble start-up as a one-man design firm to the 6 or 7 cores services we provide today, Genex Marketing continues to grow and expand into new areas that will best serve the needs of our valued clients, their goals and objectives.


Our Home: Love What You Do, Live Where You Love

Our main office is located in a beautiful city called Cranbrook (BC, Canada) that is nestled into a valley surrounded by picturesque mountains, most notably the Rocky Mountains. Environment Canada states that the city experiences some of the lightest wind speeds year-round, has few foggy days (and most sunshine hours of any BC city), and has among the highest average barometric pressure of any Canadian city.

Despite the relatively small population of the region and vast proximity to any metropolis cities, the internet has afforded us the ability to serve clients worldwide with ease and exceptional results. Our clients take solace in the fact that we don’t spend tens of thousands of dollars in office space and that we return these savings to them with competitive rates that are truly unrivaled in our industry.

Also, our staff, contractors and partners enjoy the same benefits of choosing where they want to live. Our culture and philosophy at Genex Marketing is love what you do, and live where you love. From our super talented designer Lance Smith who lives in the small community of Gabriola Island, BC to our developers and server administrators in Vancouver, Calgary and Winnipeg, we all love what we do and where we live. That’s the way it should be.

Driven By Success

The irony of success is that you must fail to achieve it. The years of cumulative experience we have obtained from thousands of clients from around the world has showed us that anyone can succeed, but it’s more likely that they failed first (at some point).

We are driven to eliminate the chances of failure(s) by providing services, strategies and solutions that we know work. And for those clients that come to use with brave and innovative ideas we reduce the chance of failures by leverage the power of tracking, split testing and real time corrections to maximize the potency of what does work while minimizing failure.

At the end of the day we know that our success relies on the success our clients receive. So in a way, we are not just driven by the success of our clients – our whole existence relies on it.

We have been part of and witnessed the rise and fall of many businesses over the years and have learned one valuable lesson from these collapses above all else: “Say what you do, and do what you say”.
